The Bare Minimum to Get Your Health Back

I am going to run down my basic advice for a beginner, someone who is obese or perhaps slim but never exercised or ate right.

The first thing is sugar restriction.  The Low Carb Diet is the beginning.  Start by reducing sugar and starch to the bare minimum and read the book, ‘Dr Atkins Diet Solution for a New You’.

After two weeks of low carb dieting, start walking.  Walk 20 minutes daily or build up to it by doing every other day and your stamina will increase.

The essential knowledge is calories in calories out.  You have to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight.  You have to eat a lot of protein to have big muscles.  Simple as that.  The main thing in the initial phase of this lifestyle is vegetables, both starchy and non starchy, and protein.  I don’t recommend getting protein from dairy products.

Get protein from fish, eggs, sometimes chicken, and oftentimes lentils and chickpeas or similar legumes.

Once your weight returns to normal range, add a bit of sugar and starch back to the diet.  Good sugar is like fruit and honey and good starch is like sweet potato or even regular potato.

Get into the habit of knowing your own body.  Increase sugar when you are doing good and decrease sugar when you are overindulging.  It’s a lifestyle not a quick fix.

But man’s choicest foodstuff will always be vegetables, protein is essential, and grain is essentially cheap filler (which has it’s uses).  Dairy is the worst, but there are exceptions.

So there you have it.  The dumbest of the dumbies can get this, let alone you, gentle reader and my fellow bloggers on WordPress.  I’m not a doctor, but I am an athlete, martial artist, acupuncturist, and yogi.  So I know what I am talking about.
