What I Do For Myself

Heres what I’ve been doing lately for myself.  I think there is something to learn from a man like me.

First of all, most of my food is from Trader Joe’s.  Awesome store.  Good healthy food that isn’t expensive.

I eat more protein, because protein gives you strength.  Things like chicken thigh, chicken sausage, tuna, egg, lentils, etc…

I also eat more grain.  Pasta from rice or wheat and quinoa especially.  Pasta takes away hunger quickly.

I eat a lot of vegetables and drink a lot of juice and black coffee.  I know juice is full of sugar, but not empty sugar.

I should eat more fruit and spices.  Need to learn more.  Maybe I’ll study more about healing fruits and medicinal food spices.

I’m good with avoiding junk food like baked goods and sweets.  But I drink coca cola.  Very moderately.

At night I sneak in some walnuts or an apple.

So overall I am doing well.  Not perfect but well.  I consider myself lucky.

There’s a new sheriff in town…

And his name is quinoa.  Sure, there are other sources of starchy staples, like bread, pasta, rice, corn, potatoes, sweet Potatoes, etc…. but in many ways quinoa trumps them all.

Quinoa is a flower seed, so it is technically pseudograin not a real grain.  But it is cooked and eaten like rice.  It is whole, contains no gluten, and has more fiber and twice the protein of brown rice.

You can even make it in a rice cooker or as a pilaf on the stovetop with broth and spices.

Quinoa comes from south America, where it is harvested in Bolivia and Peru.  It has the most perfect, balanced plant protein on earth.  It is almost as good as egg.

So I see no reason why you should eat any other starchy staple.

A Highly Caffeinated Nation

America is.  Part of our day to day health problems, like dehydration, constipation, headaches, migraines, and irritability stem from drinking too much coffee and not enough water, juice, and lemonade.

We have to be up by 6am and at work by 9am, or else we are not worthy of having a home, being fed and clothed, and raising our own families.  I’m being facetious, the system is rigged.

All this coffee and caffeine keeps us up and alert, but it is not natural.  And it lays the foundation for heart and nerve disease later on and ultimately stroke.

Someone is watching the rat race with glee and sadistically enjoys watching humanity suffer.  But I dont.  Get educated in youth, work hard during your youth, and elevate yourself to a position where you can make your own schedule and not overly caffienate yourself just to keep up with the competition.  Relax, breathe, move slower.  You’ll get more accomplished that way.

Exploring New Options

I’m always looking to learn new things and explore innovations.  The day you stop growing and learning, is the day you might as well be dead.

I want to make money from my writing because money is power and freedom in this twisted society.  I need money.

I noticed here on nativefitness.org that posts about food get a lot of attention but more introspective, philosophical posts go hardly noticed.

I happen to like the more philosophical posts more, and taoist thought shapes my whole worldview.

One of the main themes of Tao is that nature is perfect and neutral, but the world of man is fallen and corrupt.  Right is not right, so is not so.

These words of tao are words to live by.  But instead of being a hermit on the mountain retreating from society, better to be a health journalist telling people the right way to live, knowledge they used to know but have forgotten.

In Touch with the Cosmos

If you really think about it, life is very deep and rich and yet at the same time tragic and comical.  Not only have humans gone through generation after generation, slowly accruing empirical knowledge, but so have the animal kingdom and plant kingdom too.  The fish we eat today are multitudinous descendents of fish our ancestors ate thousands of years ago.  And the same thing for the potatoes and wheat grains and vegetables and whatever else.

It shows you our genetics is a secret link to the past, and that man is heaven and earth in miniature.

Another thing one must realize is that to eat meat, eggs, and fish, you have to kill animals.  Cute, fuzzy warm animals.  And being vegan is just avoiding the problem, since you can’t live without killing.  Even taking a shower or using pesticides (natural or synthetic) is killing.  We are at once one with creation and yet since we have fallen from grace, we must kill or be killed.

Thankfully, man is the apex predator, but that doesn’t mean we are all safe all of the time.

What I am trying to say is, any subject of human endeavor can give you deep insights into the human condition, even the most basic subject, nutrition.

The End of an Era

Things are shifting in my life and career, and I feel the end is near for this blog.  2019 is almost here, and in April 2019 I will have the choice of spending another hundred dollars to keep the domain name or let it revert to nativefitness.wordpress.com which is much bulkier and less easy to remember.

The thing is, I’m tired of talking about nutrition.  It’s not that complicated.  Protein and Vegetables.  Fruit and Honey should be seen as a side.  Dairy and Grain is the worst.  At the end of the day, it’s calories in and calories out.  If you understand this, you can eat garbage and still be lean and in robust health.

I want to focus on creating visual art and writing about it to explain it to the audience.  I have to let go of my TCM education.

I dont want to leave all my followers, readers, and fellow bloggers here on wordpress.

I just want to tell them that I have a new website http://www.lioravnidesignwriter.com and I post on a new blog within the site, I keep people up to date, and I have a Works page where people can preview or purchase my art designs.

Believe me, you don’t need my nutritional advice, and this blog will never go away, it will just remain under a longer, unwieldy domain name.

See you on the flip side.

The Real Reason Why The World is Suffering

And the real reason why veganism is pointless.

And that would be overpopulation.  Simple as that.  You see, hundreds of years ago, especially before the industrial age, people were simpler and lived mostly on family farms or in cities surrounded by fruitful land.  They took eggs from chickens they themselves owned and took care of, and drank milkproducts from healthy cows they took milk from naturally.  They could also go to a nearby stream and catch a fish that wasn’t totally toxic with mercury.

The age of enlightenment and the industrial revolution created new technologies that made life much, much easier for humans.  Labor saving devices, from agriculture to telephones to large ships that could cross oceans in style, developed at this crucial time.  And yet, technology ruins everything.

Everybody wants the same necessities and even the same luxuries.  We are all equal in suffering.  But create a world where there are billions of people all wanting the same thing, and you have a recipe for chaos.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to eat eggs, cheese, butter, or the meat of any animal.  We’re now omnivores just like the humble dog is.  So going vegan really is pointless.  It’s too late to save the environment.  And keep in mind, the earth will endure long after humanity dies out, the environment will be there, but the earth won’t be supportive of human life.  So we’ll all die.

You are not responsible for anyone but yourself, but i’m sure if you’re normal you care about your family too.

Every human being loves privacy and a space of his own.  It is something inborn in us.  But create too many people, and suddenly, the standard of living plummets through the floor.

More people means more trouble and a lower standard of living.  We can’t reverse this trend, because only a madman like Hitler would kill people just because they are useless or undesirable.  That’s just not moral, just, or humane.

Not everyone needs to reproduce, and if you are in a state of wealth and independence to have children, try to limit your family to two or three offspring.   Think about yourself, think about your children, and think about the children of the human race and how the future will be for them.

The lacto-ovo vegetarian diet has been proven by all forms of science to be the ideal human diet.  And don’t be afraid to be an opportunist and eat fish from time to time.  The main idea is to lessen your carbon footprint and leave the environment healthy for your future generations.  That is all you can do as a human being in the modern age.

Please consider this thought.

Promoting Myself

My mission is to help people lead better lives.  Whether it’s acupuncture, or art, or music, I want people to feel some consolation.  Recently, I joined a website that helps professionals get clients.  Soon after, I got an email saying I was chosen as one of the best in my area.

So I wrote this post just to show off that I earned a badge which tells people how popular my services are.

Remember, it doesn’t take one needle or one touch to effect a change.  It takes intent, and my intent is to educate the world about health so they won’t be slaves to the medical system.

If you are interested…

If you are interested in a short read and a condensed primer on healthy lifestyle in the same vein as my blog, I just published a small ebook today.  It summarizes in 7 short chapters a lot of knowledge and experience and observation.

I finally got around to publishing my book, which I named, ‘Sport and Physical Culture’.  Originally, I wanted to call my book ‘Taoist Nutrition Made Easy’ or some other title relating to my Chinese Medicine education, but didn’t want the association with either religion or medicine.

This is a brief summary of wholistic lifestyle for anyone, if you want to improve your health and well-being.  In very few pages, I cover topics like nutrition, exercise, sport, sexology, psychology and even zen.

I know I am not a doctor, but rather have a degree in Acupuncture and also digital design.  I’m qualified to write this book because I have the knowledge and the desire to teach people how to go from sickness to health.

Consider looking at the sample chapter and see if the book has something to offer you.

On the come-back trail…

I haven’t posted in a couple of months or so because I kind of ran out of things to say and new things to offer.  But now that I am back in the game, I might as well share what insights I have attained.

First of all, it is not so important to be strict with your diet.  Ultimately, it’s about calories in and calories out.  The easiest way to reduce calories is to reduce sugar.

I noticed over this passed time that perfect diet is not really necessary.  As long as you are watching portion size and timing of meals, it’s not really necessary to bother people with your dietary restrictions.

The only two really heinous food groups are dairy and grain, and yet, there are exceptions.  People literally could live off of bread and cheese, and in some countries around the world, they actually do.  But a real healthy diet includes a lot of protein and a lot of fiber and is low in sugar.

Also, I’ve noticed that it’s not easy to eat protein foods all day and never eat anything sweet or starchy.  Carbs should be part of your diet, it’s just choosing the best carbs is the trick.

Vegetables is man’s primary foodstuff, and on a low carb diet, it’s easy to neglect them.  Also, high quality cooking fats are important.  Olive oil and butter come to mind.

So as I continue my health and recovery journey, I will try to strike a balance between exercise and a doable version of the low carb (or Bi-Gu) diet.  Grain really is the first junk food, and health increases when you stop eating starchy grains.
