My name is OJ Fiander, I am the Founder and CEO of Native Fitness .org. I am an enrolled member of the Grand Ronde Tribe of Oregon, I am here today because I had a long line of ancestors who were resilient against all odds.
Native Fitness .org was a concept I had about 6 years ago, after seeing the same struggles all over Indian Country, and the solutions I felt were never appropriate for the challenge and from looking at the metrics we are making marginal headway. It would appear throwing money at this problem doesn’t solve it, definitely not long term.
When you work with us you, you are indirectly supporting our effort to make a lasting change in some of America’s most needed population – my people. Over the past 5 years I have spoken nationally numerous times on this subject, last year alone I spoke over 5 times in 5 different events.
Feels like a loaded question because there is so much we do. I think I need to start with my background. I have been in the health and wellness game for almost 25 years, I own a successful chain of health clubs, largest one has an indoor track and basketball court, I also own a fitness retail store, I own a commercial exercise supply company, where we sell equipment all over the PNW, I own a service company where we fix equipment all over the PNW, I own almost 80,000 square feet of commercial real estate. We typically run about 150 employees across all organizations.
So what we do comes with a solid back ground to be able to help. Supplying exercise equipment to Indian Country is the easiest thing we do but is incredibly important. Our people need equipment that fits them and our facilities arn’t niche facilities, they are community facilities and have to be outfitted as such.
Hop on our website, browse thru what we do from running operations to general contracting and everything in between. We even offer a service school where we teach how the basics of equipment service, to empower those working in these facilities.
